A high-contrast black & white board book featuring much-loved nursery rhymes and familiar rhythms, created especially for babies. Bold illustrations help developing eyes focus on simple shapes and everyday images, while gentle rhyme and repetition support early listening and language development. Designed to be shared, this book encourages caregivers and babies to look, listen and enjoy time together – building connection and a love of words and song from the very beginning.
About the author
Fiona’s interest in paper began while she was studying for a Bachelor of Arts at Uni SA from 1989 to 1992. Majoring in textiles allowed her to explore the many ways paper can be made, used and manipulated.
This fascination has continued and evolved into creating picture books. Beginning with black-and-white paper cutouts for My First Shapes opened up a new approach to illustration she had not explored before. Through cutting, layering, collaging and adding colour and pattern, she discovered that the creative possibilities are endless.
