About the author
Ruth Doyle is a British children's author celebrated for her lyrical picture books that explore themes of empathy, mindfulness,and the natural world. Her notable works include Dreams for Our Daughters, Songs for Our Sons, A Horse Called Now, and The Special Gift. Before pursuing writing, Ruth trained as a nurse and studied social care to deepen her understanding of people from all walks of life. She resides on a micro-farm in Kent, England, with her family and a variety of animals, including sheep, chickens, dogs, miniature horses, guinea pigs and rabbits.
Carolyn Gavin is a Toronto-based painter, illustrator and designer, known for her vibrant, expressive artwork inspired by nature, travel and everyday beauty. Working in watercolour, gouache and acrylic, she combines bold colour, rich pattern and a playful style across a variety of subjects. As principal designer for Ecojot (an eco-friendly paper brand), she also licenses her work for textiles, packaging, homeware and books. Originally from South Africa, Carolyn now lives in Canada, where she teaches online and runs sought-after painting retreats around the world.
