Bajirru invites the colourist to Come Walk on Country.

The calming energy of Country flows through these pages in over 70 artworks to colour in that depict creation stories, places under the sun and stars, the lifecycles of animals, birds and insects, and flowering plants sustained by the seasons.

Organised into four sections – Desert Country, Freshwater Country, Saltwater Country and Sky Country – the colourist is warmly invited into the Aboriginal way to slow down, be still and feel a sense of the natural world.

About the author

Balarinji is Australia’s most highly awarded and longest-running Indigenous design studio. Since 1983 Balarinji has created contemporary design excellence from Indigenous culture and narratives.

Aboriginal-owned, with origins in Yanyuwa culture from the Northern Territory, Balarinji’s work authentically engages with and reflects the philosophies of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, art and stories. Balarinji began on a kitchen table in Adelaide before it became an iconic studio that has worked all around Australia and in Japan, the UK, France and the US. It is best known for covering Qantas aircrafts in Aboriginal art, with six aircraft deliveries making up the Qantas-Balarinji Flying Art Series 1994–2024.

Balarinji’s nation building design projects include Australia’s Nation Brand, the official poster for the 2000 Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk for Reconciliation, the Australian team uniforms for the Rio 2016 Paralympics, and many others. The studio has also created designs for some of the world’s most well-known international brands, including British Airways, Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Nespresso.
