Granny is a Hippie

A Day of Tie-Dye, Sunshine, and Spreading Kindness

By Carolina Amell

Granny Is a Hippie is the first title in a new series introducing children to the world’s most iconic subcultures. Through the eyes of a child spending a day with Grandma, this playful picture book brings the hippie spirit to life: peace and love, music and protest, flower crowns and VW vans. Each spread highlights the ideas, style, and sounds that defined the movement while showing how its values of freedom, community, and creativity remain inspiring today. Witty, vibrant illustrations make it easy for kids—and their parents—to dive into a culture that shaped generations and still feels fresh.
